Built-In 9-Stop Motorized ND Filter System
X9 has 9-stop built-in physical ND filters (ND 2 to ND 512, or ND 0.3 to ND 2.7) that can be quickly and easily switched thanks to a motorized internal system.
Full-Frame 8K/60fps and 4K/120fps ProRes Recording
Delivering uncompromising image quality, the X9 supports internal recording of Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 4444 XQ, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422 LT, and H.264 formats. Capture full-frame video at up to 8K/60fps or enjoy ultra-smooth slow motion in 4K/120fps. It also supports the ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) workflow for seamless post-production integration.
Interchangeable Lens Mount System

At the heart of the DJI Ronin 4D-8K is the Zenmuse X9-8K, a powerful full-frame cinema camera module featuring a VistaVision-format sensor capable of capturing ultra-high-resolution footage up to 8K at 75 frames per second. The X9-8K supports internal recording in industry-leading formats including Apple ProRes RAW, ProRes 4444 XQ, ProRes 422 HQ, and H.264, delivering maximum flexibility for professional post-production workflows. The sensor’s dual native ISO ensures impressive low-light performance while maintaining dynamic range and image clarity.
The Ronin 4D’s core innovation remains its 4-axis stabilization system, which sets it apart from traditional 3-axis gimbals by adding Z-axis stabilization to counter vertical camera shake during movement. This allows filmmakers to shoot complex handheld sequences — including walking or running — without the need for additional support systems like a Steadicam, all while achieving true cinematic smoothness.
Focusing is powered by DJI’s LiDAR Range Finder, projecting over 43,000 points to provide accurate, lightning-fast autofocus and subject tracking, even in low-light conditions or with fast-moving subjects. The addition of ActiveTrack Pro brings even greater precision for dynamic scenes. The Ronin 4D-8K is also equipped with DJI's O3 Pro Video Transmission, enabling real-time transmission of 1080p/60fps video with ultra-low latency across distances up to 6 kilometers. AES 256-bit encryption ensures secure video feed, while integration with the DJI High-Bright Remote Monitor allows for remote camera control, focus pulling, and multi-device collaboration.

The Ronin 4D-8K features a motorized 9-stop ND filter system (ND 2 to ND 512) built directly into the camera, allowing seamless exposure control without interrupting filming. Storage options include DJI’s 1TB PROSSD or external recording via USB-C, making it adaptable to high-bitrate workflows. The system offers professional-grade audio input via dual XLR ports and a 3.5mm microphone jack, supporting cinematic productions with broadcast-quality sound capture.
The camera body is designed with modularity in mind, including a 5.5-inch rotatable touchscreen monitor, ergonomic hand grips, and compatibility with DJI’s ecosystem of accessories such as focus motors, wireless follow focus units, and the Ronin video transmitter. Power is delivered through TB50 intelligent batteries, offering around two hours of operation per battery with hot-swapping capability to keep production rolling.
